Why Sludge Builds Up in Luton Heating Systems

Every steel radiator in a wet central heating system produces iron oxide as a by-product of corrosion. In a system protected by chemical inhibitor, this process is slowed considerably. In an unprotected or poorly maintained system, the corrosion rate is higher and the sludge accumulates faster.
